Walton is a village that is nestled in the foothills of the Catskills Mountains in Delaware County. Quaint, charming and lovely - all describe this small town of approximately 5,000 residents. This delightful little community is a rural farming area with an attractive small town image. It's known as The Scarecrow Capital of the World," where scarecrows can be seen posted where you'd expect to find parking meters, and toward the end of October, the number of colorful straw characters greatly increases around town. While visiting Walton, a must see is the "country emporium," which is housed in a massive four-story brick landmark building, portions of which date back to the 1700s. Inside is something for everyone; gourmet foods, rustic furniture, china, art, antiques, pottery, garden accessories and several "Christmas Rooms." Other places to visit in Walton include the Carriage Museum and The Magic Mile, which takes you through the beautiful historic district past several magnificent Victorian homes. The town of Walton, set along a branch of the Delaware River, is small town America the way people love to remember, and is pretty enough to have come from a Norman Rockwell painting.

The Central Region of New York enjoys a four-season climate with lots of sunshine in the summer and cold, snowy conditions in the winter. This region is a unique mix of farmland, sparkling lakes and cascading waterfalls and other geological wonders. The area around Syracuse receives some of the heaviest snowfalls in the nation, and annual precipitation is from 36 to 44 inches of rain and snowmelt. Summers are pleasant, generally with only a handful of days when humidity is really a problem. Autumn is sunny and cool, but brief. Snow is usually on the ground from Christmas until mid-March, although a period when the ground is bare is also not uncommon. Severe weather such as hurricanes or tornadoes are generally not experienced in New York, as they are in other parts of the country.
