Titus-Mountain is located in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, only thirty miles from the Canadian border. The town of Malone is approximately six miles away. Home to the third highest ski area in the Adirondack Mountains, Titus Mountain has a vertical drop of 1,200 feet and 140 acres of terrain. The ski resort opened in 1950 and boasts 27 trails, 10 lifts, including 2 triples and 6 doubles and a snow tubing park and night time skiing. The area receives over 100 inches of snowfall each year, and is surrounded by spruce and pine forests, making it also one of the best for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and snowboarding. Ice fishing is popular on many of the area's lakes and winter carnivals are held each year in nearby Malone and Saranac (the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival is a week-long event in February and is the oldest carnival of its' kind in the eastern United States.) Many other special events are held at Titus Mountain throughout the year. Two lodges with restaurants and cocktail lounges are located on the Mountain, and other services, including car rentals, bus and an airport are about 10 minutes away in Malone.

Titus Mountain Weather & Climate

The Adirondacks near Saranac Lake and Lake Placid enjoys four different seasons with winters marked by crisp, cold days and warm, pleasant summers with low humidity. In spring and fall, the days are warm and the evenings cool, adding to the beauty of the wildflowers of April and May and the brilliant colors of September and October. The average summer temperature is 75 F (24 C) and the average low is 50F (10 C); winter's average high is 27 F (-3 C) and the average low is 5 F (-15 C). The annual precipitation is 39 inches, keeping the forests green and the lakes and streams flowing. Luckily, the Adirondacks do not experience the harshness and devastation of tornadoes, earthquakes or hurricanes as do some other areas of the country. There is no specific rainy season; rather there are both wet and dry spells in every season.
