Chazy-Lake is the name of both a lake and a village located in the Adirondack region in the northeast corner of the state along Highway 9 near the Vermont border. The small town, or hamlet, lies on the west side of the lake. The town of Chazy Lake bills itself as "a small town with a big history," settled more than 240 years ago as a gateway to the American Revolution. The railroad station in Chazy is the oldest surviving railroad station in New York State, and the town is the site of the Alice T. Miner Museum, an 1824 Classical Colonial Revival home/museum with period furnishings. Opened in 1924, this museum contains fifteen rooms of period furniture, as well as miniature furniture, an extensive china collection, porcelain, glass, dolls and a collection of early samplers and other textiles. Chazy's other claim to fame is its apple production. The Chazy Orchards is the world's largest producer of MacIntosh apples, producing nearly 250-thousand boxes of apples each year. For outdoor recreation, Chazy Lake offers fishing, boating, hiking and picnicking. It's also near Lake Placid and Saranac Lake which offer all types of activities for fun family vacations. The town of Chazy also consists of the hamlets of West Chazy and Sciota.

Chazy Lake Weather & Climate

The Adirondacks near Saranac Lake and Lake Placid enjoys four different seasons with winters marked by crisp, cold days and warm, pleasant summers with low humidity. In spring and fall, the days are warm and the evenings cool, adding to the beauty of the wildflowers of April and May and the brilliant colors of September and October. The average summer temperature is 75 F (24 C) and the average low is 50F (10 C); winter's average high is 27 F (-3 C) and the average low is 5 F (-15 C). The annual precipitation is 39 inches, keeping the forests green and the lakes and streams flowing. Luckily, the Adirondacks do not experience the harshness and devastation of tornadoes, earthquakes or hurricanes as do some other areas of the country. There is no specific rainy season; rather there are both wet and dry spells in every season.
