Norwich is the county seat for Chenango County, nestled in the gently rolling hills of Central Upstate New York. This vibrant community has a population of more than 7,000 and has peaceful tree-lined streets, several picturesque parks and open spaces. Yet it's just a short drive to many of the largest cities of Northeastern United States and Southeast Canada. The town of Norwich is surrounded by tranquil farms and lush forests, reservoirs and lakes and streams. Over 75 juried artists from all over the country some to exhibit and sell their artwork at the Colorscape Festival and there's always a large selection of mouth-watering dishes from which to choose in the Culinary Court. Norwich is a 21st century city with a thriving downtown, yet retains its' hometown friendliness and old-fashioned charm.

Norwich Weather & Climate

The Central Region of New York enjoys a four-season climate with warm, sunny summers and cold, snowy winters. This area receives some of the heaviest snowfalls in the nation. Annual precipitation is from 36 to 44 inches of rain and snowmelt. Summers are pleasant, usually with only a handful of days when humidity is uncomfortable. Autumn is sunny and cool, lovely, but brief. Snow is usually on the ground from Christmas until mid-March, although a period when the ground is bare is also not uncommon. Severe weather such as hurricanes or tornadoes are generally not experienced in New York, as they are in other parts of the country.
