Queensbury is located in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in Upstate New York, once part of the great northern wilderness, which was a favorite hunting and fishing site for the Iroquois Indians. During the French and Indian War, the Colonial Army marched through here from Albany in August, 1755, building a road as it marched. This Military Road was the first road leading into settlement of the Town of Queensbury. Today, the historic town of Queensbury is noted for its tourism trade. Hotels, B&Bs, restaurants, amusement parks, golf courses, ski trails, etc., abound, serving thousands of tourists each year. Queensbury is located near Glens Falls and Lake George which also offer all kinds of recreational sports activities such as swimming, fishing and boating, white water rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, ice skating, picnicking and cross-country skiing. Queensbury has become well known for its' annual Balloon Festival, usually held in September, and the town also offers balloon rides and champagne flights over the rolling farmland and Adirondack Mountains. A Chocolate and Coffee Festival is also held in Queensbury in March and features over 25 vendors of coffee, sweets and other food, along with entertainment and door prizes.

Queensbury Weather & Climate

The Berkshires of New York has a variable four season climate. The first significant snowfall usually occurs in December, but it varies from year to year. Some years there is no snow or ice until after the first of the New Year, and the temperatures near the Hudson River stay quite mild. March is the month to look for the first signs of spring, although cool temperatures can linger throughout the month. Summers are hazy, warm and humid. September can be mixed with clear, cool Canadian air or warm, humid air with intense downpours. October is possibly the most beautiful month in the Berkshires with warm, sunny days and cool, crisp nights. Perfect weather for enjoying the foliage. Typically, colors peak the first three weeks of October.
